Leaders lead from the insides 2

leaders need nurturing

As said earlier, “A leader leads from what is already at the very core of their being. It is what a leader hones to grow, to shape, to nurture and to discipline so that it leads for God’s goodness sake (and not the other).”

How? A leader needs...

Time alone with God: This allows a leader to daily heal (everyone needs this – no exception from the wounds and exhaustion), rest to recover, and renew to be even stronger and wiser. When the going gets tough, the experience of His love is the only thing that helps us get going. When we experience opposition, it is only His presence that assures us we are not alone and gives us courage to continue. When we experience heartaches, it is only His firm hand on ours and his steady voice that says He is with us. In times of uncertainty, we know we are in the company of the one Who has been around and aware of what was, what is and what is to come. In times of betrayals…, it is only His grace that keeps us trusting, loving, caring and being there for others. Doing this with God daily – shapes in us to be conscious that we live with God.

Time with community of God (and with God) : to be in the company whom you share the same passion, desire, hope and love for God, from God and with God – strengthens, wisens and encourages. It is a community where we appreciate each one’s life, work and giftedness. It is a community where we get the most honest critiques with so much love and grace. This type of community is like healing balm and at the same time, like coffee or power drink boosting us to get going. It sharpens us – making us tougher, better people with better character, and at the same time, softens us making us people sensitive and caring to our beloveds we live with.

Time with the people in our society (and with God): Leaders need work. Without it, they get anxy. They are made this way – to better, to fix, to organize, to bring the world closer toward it’s intended purpose to have love, peace and justice – for everyone and everywhere. After all, we are our Father’s children, we have the same hearts. We dream the same dreams for the hurting around us. We hope for the same hopes God has for the weak we live with. It’s just that – we have been hurt, bruised, oddly formed by ill influences around us and even almost destroyed one time or another in our lives. But God tells us, he is available to give us new ways, new lives and new future – when we give ourselves to an intimate friendship with God – whom we truly belong with as family.
